Do i need a physician referral for therapy?
No. A licensed therapist is able to complete an inital evaluation without a physican's order. NOTE: Should you wish to file your insurance a physician's order is required.
what can i expect from the first visit?
The first therapy visit will include an interview with parents and child. The first session will last 45-60 minutes. The therapist will use a variety of tests and clinical observations of your child's strengths and weaknesses. At the end of the session, your therapist will determine the frequency and duration of therapy sessions, shall they be warranted.
can i afford therapy?
Lighthouse Therapeutics accepts most types of Medicaid including TEFRA, FFS, Wellcare, Absolute Total Care and Blue Choice Medicaid. We also accept private insurance to include all Blue Cross Blue Shields, Cigna, and Aetna. We also strive for therapy to be as affordable as possible for the families. Please ask about our out of pocket discounts for therapy services.
We at Lighthouse Therapeutics also recommend parents to apply for TEFRA which is a state supported supplemental or secondary insurance for children who have extenstive medical expenses due to a severe diagnosis or significant delay.

What are red flags for child development?
- Not walking by 12-15 months
- Not making noises and sounds during infancy or using words by age 1
- Unable to hold bottle and other toys by 7 months
- Still using bottle after age 1
- Unable to play appropriately with other children
- Unwillingly to try new foods
- By age 2, unable to remove shoes and socks
- Unable to climb stairs or run safely by age 2
- Not using a variety of words and sentences by age 2
- Such delays persist as the child turns 3 and beyond
when do i have to pay for therapy?
An invoice will be given at the end of each month of treatement and is due by the 15th of the following month. Remember to ask about our out of pocket discounts.
wHERE ARE SERVICES PROVIDED?
We provide speech, occupational and physical therapy services in the clinic and/or the child’s natural environment. Natural environment is any place your child spends a significant amount of time with family and friends during growth and development. This is your home, family-member’s home, schools and daycares, parks and playgrounds, and other places in the community where your child needs to have access and independence.

Our speech therapist specializes in communication in all forms including letter recognition, phonics to eventually reading. Here at Lighthouse Therapeutics we treat the whole child with a multi-sensory approach to increase likelihood of carry over in a fun filled environment.
DO YOU ALL OFFER FEEDING THERAPY?
Yes. Lighthouse Therapeutics has a feeding team consisting of a Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist. The team examines the child's ability to chew, navigate food in their oral cavity and their ability to swallow safely and effectively. The therapists will also examine the child's ability to tolerate sensory input via touch, smell, sight, movement, and auitory input/output. From there, the team will come up with a multidisciplinary plan of care for your child.

Most children do not outgrow sensory processing disorder, but they learn to compensate. Here at Lighthouse Thereapeutics, we strive to enable the child to thrive in a variety of settings withou the need to compensate. It is important to get your child help as soon as possible to increase the likelihood of successful treatment and carryover.
will my chld benefit from pt?
my child walk on her toes, should i get a pt referral?
Yes, The PT will address the child's flexibility and strength of the foot and lower leg muscles to decrease the effects of toe walking.
